So I have finally been shopping! Anyone who knows me well is aware this is likely to be a painful experience, driven by a pathological inability to make a decision without an exhaustive comparison of all available brands, to the detriment of my sanity and to that of the poor sap who may have been accompanying me. Luckily this was an exclusively online mission, so the pain was all my own :-)
Items purchased were all requested specifically by the birth centre and include: 2 spygmomanometers, 3 stethoscopes, 1 model fetus, 1 sonic aid and 1 otoscope with disposable speculae. I plan to take the money left over with me and either donate it to the centre or use it to purchase any further items needed at a later date.
I am off for a wee bit of adventuring and am taking the opportunity to learn about maternity care in Nepal. I hope to gain some insight into the experience of the nurse-midwives there and where possible make myself useful!
